WHAT IS POLYAMIDE?
Polyamide (PA) is a family of engineering thermoplastics known for strength, rigidity, abrasion resistance and durability under repeated mechanical use. In knife equipment it can be formulated and molded for precise, load-bearing parts—not only simple plastic covers.
CUSTOM BLENDS FOR KNIFE APPLICATIONS
Kizlyar Supreme selects and tests custom polyamide blends for the mechanical demands of each component. The intended balance may include stiffness, impact resistance, wear behavior, dimensional accuracy and the ability to hold molded features over years of practical use. The final performance comes from the material, geometry and manufacturing process working together.

WHERE KIZLYAR SUPREME USES IT
CityHunter uses a model-specific polyamide sheath. Its compact geometry supports secure carry while preserving the fast, practical character of the knife.
Polyamide is also useful beyond sheaths. The Hussar handle uses glass-reinforced polyamide for a strong structural body, while the Kizlyar Supreme KS Clip uses engineered polymer performance in a versatile attachment component.
POLYAMIDE, POLYPROPYLENE OR KYDEX?
Polyamide: chosen when stiffness, strength, wear resistance and detailed molded features are priorities.
Polypropylene: selected for lightweight, moisture-resistant sheath bodies and inserts with controlled flexibility and edge-conscious contact behavior.
Kydex: a thermoformed sheet material used for rigid, precisely shaped sheaths such as those supplied with Urban and Severus.
There is no single best sheath material for every knife. Kizlyar Supreme chooses the construction around the model, blade geometry, intended carry and retention system.
DESIGNED AS A COMPLETE SYSTEM
A trustworthy sheath should hold the knife securely, release it in a controlled movement and provide practical attachment options. The contact points, entry angle, drainage, clip location and carry position all matter. Kizlyar Supreme treats these details as part of the knife design rather than as an afterthought.
CARE
Rinse away sand or grit with clean water, allow the component to dry and check retention areas before inserting the knife. Avoid unnecessary exposure to extreme heat. If the draw changes, inspect the sheath and blade for trapped particles.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is polyamide the same as polypropylene?
No. They are different polymer families with different stiffness, flexibility, wear and processing characteristics. Kizlyar Supreme selects the material to suit the component.
Is the CityHunter sheath polyamide?
Yes. The current CityHunter sheath is made from polyamide.
Can polyamide be reinforced?
Yes. Reinforced grades can provide additional structural performance. Kizlyar Supreme uses glass-reinforced polyamide in the Hussar handle.
Why not use one material for every sheath?
Knife geometry, weight, draw behavior and attachment requirements differ. Model-specific material selection produces a better system than forcing every knife into one generic sheath construction.
