What guides Kizlyar Supreme

A good knife helps the story happen

We make knives for campfires, difficult trails, careful work, unexpected repairs, shared meals and gifts remembered for years. That is what “The beginning of good stories” means to us: a knife should be useful when it matters, comfortable to live with and dependable enough to remain part of the story for a long time.

A family foundation

Two generations shaped one independent brand

Kizlyar Supreme grew from the shared experience of Valentin Kulikov and his son Konstantin. Valentin was one of Kizlyar’s earliest modern entrepreneurs and one of the people who helped create and develop the earlier knife manufacturer PP Kizlyar. He understood industrial knife making—from workshop realities to building production at scale—like few people in Russia.

Konstantin began helping his father at sixteen, first with the early website and marketing. He later studied in Australia, built an import and distribution business around Russian knives, travelled to international exhibitions and worked closely with customers, designers and partners in different markets.

When Konstantin set out to create an independent brand with a long-term international outlook, he brought modern management and production ideas, an international network of experts and designers, and hands-on experience with knife-making technology. Valentin added the hard-won judgement of a veteran industrial knife maker. The combination became Kizlyar Supreme: a family-founded company built to learn quickly, manufacture seriously and keep improving.

During the early development and launch period, selected workshops and manufacturing partners produced our designs while we planned, built and equipped the Kizlyar Supreme factory in Kizlyar. Bringing production into our own manufacturing system gave us much closer control over quality and a faster connection between user feedback and the next improvement.

Valentin passed away in 2020. His entrepreneurial courage, manufacturing knowledge and standards live on in the company we continue to build.

How the company developed

From first sketches to a full-cycle manufacturer

Our story is not a claim that everything was perfect from day one. It is a record of building capability, learning from users and making each generation better.

2009

The design programme begins

Russian, Australian, German and Japanese contributors help shape the first models and early production arrangements.

DECEMBER 2011

Kizlyar Supreme launches

Amigo X, Amigo Z, Santi and Nikki introduce the brand in three markets while our own factory is being developed. From the start, our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects becomes a guiding promise: we believe in our knives and stand behind the work that goes into them.

2012–2013

Core ranges and own production

Tactical Echelon and the Outdoor Series establish our fixed-blade direction as production moves into the Kizlyar Supreme factory. The Outdoor Series brings together Maximus, Legion, Vendetta, Echo and Enzo.

2015

20,000 knives a year

Experimentation, research and new production procedures help Kizlyar Supreme reach 20,000 knives a year. Precision machining and electronically controlled heat treatment give us greater control over consistent serial production.

2018

60,000 knives a year

We learn to get more from our existing equipment, improve everyday efficiency and reach 60,000 knives a year. Alongside this work, our designers develop new models around the needs and ideas of knife users.

2020

100,000 items in a year

Better procedures, continued investment and training across our manufacturing and management teams help us produce 100,000 items in a year. Closer collaboration—and listening carefully to owners—keeps new models and practical upgrades moving forward.

2023

220,000 blades produced

Years of development bring a wave of new Kizlyar Supreme models. Continuous Improvement, the gradual introduction of Lean methods, expanded facilities and new equipment help our team produce 220,000 blades during the year.

TODAY

More capability, same principle

We keep developing our range while a second manufacturing facility takes shape in Saint Petersburg.

The Kizlyar Supreme principles

What we believe a knife company should take seriously

01

The whole knife matters

Blade geometry, steel, heat treatment, handle ergonomics, retention and carry must work together. A strong specification cannot rescue a weak complete system.

02

Fixed blades are our strongest discipline

Practical fixed-blade knives remain at the centre of our engineering and manufacturing experience—from compact EDC tools to outdoor and tactical designs.

03

The sheath is part of the knife

We design for secure retention, predictable extraction, useful attachment options and long-term comfort instead of treating the sheath as packaging.

04

Users belong in the design loop

Owners, outdoor users, professionals, designers and knife enthusiasts help us see what drawings alone cannot. Some models and many upgrades began with that dialogue.

05

Control the processes that shape performance

Our production connects engineering, cutting, machining, heat treatment, grinding, finishing, assembly and inspection inside one manufacturing system.

06

Stand behind the result

Our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects is not a slogan. It is a clear promise of responsibility for our materials, processes and workmanship.

Continuous Improvement

A launch is not the end of development

01 · LISTENOwner and expert experience
02 · STUDYUse, production and service evidence
03 · IMPROVEGeometry, materials and processes
04 · VERIFYTest, release and keep learning

Lean thinking in practice

Established models should keep getting better

We use Lean and Continuous Improvement principles to remove avoidable waste, make problems visible and turn practical experience into better products. Over time that has meant new steel choices, refined geometry, revised sheath materials, improved retention and more useful attachment systems.

This approach matters because a trusted model can stay in use for many years. We do not believe its development has to stop when the first production run leaves the factory.

Selected independent recognition

Knives judged alongside handmade craftsmanship

Kizlyar Supreme models have received awards from specialist juries at major knife exhibitions. Our published archive is a growing selection rather than a complete history: earlier records are still being recovered, while new results continue to be documented.

For a serial manufacturer, recognition in fields that also include meticulously prepared handmade knives is especially meaningful. It shows that repeatable production and thoughtful design can stand confidently beside one-off craftsmanship.

The next chapter

Growing our manufacturing base

Our primary knife factory is in Kizlyar, Dagestan. A second Kizlyar Supreme manufacturing facility is now in the making in Pushkin, Saint Petersburg. The expansion is being developed around the same principles: practical flow, modern equipment, Lean thinking and room to build long-term capability.

Growth matters to us only when it strengthens the things knife owners value—consistent quality, useful new designs, dependable availability and direct manufacturer support.
