The MIG folding knife is a unique project born at the intersection of strict Japanese knife aesthetics and uncompromising Russian reliability. The model was developed for Kizlyar Supreme by Shoji Takahashi, a hereditary Japanese knife maker and designer.

Its silhouette was created at Takahashi Cutlery, located in the iconic city of Seki — the historic heart of Japan's weapon craftsmanship. In 2019, the company closed its doors, making the MIG one of the master's last and most valuable designs. We decided to bring this project to life completely unchanged to preserve its incredible, authentic "techno-retro" style in its exact form.

The blade

The 80 mm blade is made of high-quality Japanese VG-10 steel with cryogenic treatment, hardened to 61-62 HRC, which ensures excellent wear resistance and a clean, aggressive cut.

Flat grinds, thin bevels, and hard, corrosion-resistant steel on the blade make up the perfect formula for an everyday carry (EDC) city knife.
Back Lock

The Back-Lock mechanism implemented on the MIG is quite rare for modern knives, yet it remains one of the most reliable locks on the folder market.

The knife is assembled on metal washers, and all structural elements are made of stee — it simply exudes dependability, a certain old-school feel, and at the same time, a very special elegance.
Ergonomic

The handle of the MIG is crafted from two-tone G-10 with 3D machining. The swift, sharp lines of the scales, combined with the knife's aggressive profile and abundance of steel elements, create a striking impression, referencing the legendary series of Russian MiG fighter jets known worldwide.

A heavy-duty pocket clip is secured by three screws and holds the knife perfectly on your pocket.

In everyday life, the MIG is a dependable workhorse and an excellent daily companion, but its main highlight is its absolutely non-standard, recognizable design. This is no surprise, as it was created in the Land of the Rising Sun by a hereditary bladesmith and designer specifically for Russia.
