WHAT G10 IS

G-10 is a technical laminate grade rather than a decorative plastic. It is made by combining woven glass fabric with an epoxy resin system under heat and pressure. The material was developed for demanding electrical and structural applications, where high mechanical strength and reliable performance in humid conditions are important.

WHY KIZLYAR SUPREME USES IT

Kizlyar Supreme selects G10 for knives that need a rigid, dimensionally stable handle with a precise machined shape. It lets our designers control palm swell, finger indexing, edges and surface texture closely, while the glass-fabric structure provides strength throughout the scale.

KEY ADVANTAGES FOR KNIFE HANDLES

• High mechanical strength and rigidity
• Low moisture absorption
• Strong resistance to everyday wear
• Stable shape across normal outdoor conditions
• Precise CNC machining and repeatable geometry
• Layered colours that reveal distinctive patterns when sculpted

GRIP CREATED BY GEOMETRY

Raw G10 is hard and relatively smooth, so secure grip comes from intelligent shaping. Kizlyar Supreme machines three-dimensional contours, grooves and fine surface texture into the scales. The result is designed to remain controlled in a wet hand without turning the handle into an uncomfortable abrasive surface during long use.

COLOUR BECOMES PART OF THE SHAPE

Many G10 sheets are built from contrasting coloured layers. When Kizlyar Supreme machines a curved handle, those layers appear as flowing lines that follow the geometry of the grip. This gives every design visual depth while keeping the practical advantages of a structural composite.

G10 OR MICARTA?

G10 usually feels harder and more precisely machined, with crisp contours and strong colour contrast. Micarta often has a warmer, more organic surface and can develop a distinctive patina with use. Neither is universally better: Kizlyar Supreme chooses according to the knife’s construction, intended environment and desired hand feel.

G10 OR KRATON?

Choose G10 when you prefer rigid scales, a slim profile and sculpted texture. Kraton-based handles are softer and more forgiving, especially in cold or prolonged use. The best material is the one that supports the complete handle design and the work the knife is expected to do.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Clean G10 with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, then dry the complete knife carefully. Avoid open flame, excessive heat and aggressive solvents. The handle itself needs no oil or protective coating.

CAN G10 GET WET?

Yes. G10 has low moisture absorption and is well suited to outdoor use. Water can still remain around fasteners, liners or the tang, so the complete knife should be cleaned and dried after wet or salty conditions.

DO ALL G10 HANDLES FEEL THE SAME?

No. Sheet quality, layer construction, machining, edge treatment and surface pattern all influence the result. Kizlyar Supreme treats G10 as engineering material: we shape and finish it to suit the individual knife rather than relying on the material name alone.
